This site has pedigree linked resources of over 164+ million names with access to over one billion names through other databases. Kindred Connections has been in the business of managing these large genealogical archives for over ten years, so they know what they're doing.

You can search every name in your family tree all at once with their MyTrees PLUS search. A handy little touch that can save you months or even years of searching for your ancestors one at a time. You'll have to subscribe for the MyTrees PLUS search, of course.  But you don't have to subscribe to receive many of their other services. You can register for their Free Member Services and begin building your family tree right away. In fact, submitting your family tree with a minimum of 15 families and 60 individuals gives you a free month of subscription services as an active, paid-up account. You can get up to four free months of subscription services depending on how many names are in your submitted family tree. This is a one time offer only, so you'll want to submit your largest family tree. The offer does not apply to subsequent submissions.

Their policy, stated simply, is "databases freely given will be freely shared." Kindred Connections is much more interested in the advancement of genealogical research than the selling of genealogical databases. Subscription fees for the use of the site are in support of software programs, computer systems, network accesses, and the management of the large database archive. They keep each submitter's database as a separate file within their archive to allow for convenient updates. And they provide quick turn around when making your database available for public access.

With that said, their flagship service is still the MyTrees PLUS search, which takes every name in your file and compares it to every name in their database and gives you access to all of the matches. 

PROS:

You can search he world's largest genealogy, pedigree-linked database, with over one billion names. You can build your Family History with their Family Search from birth records, marriage records, death records, and Family Trees in the Ancestry Archive™ Search. You can also buile your own Family Tree for free, it's quick and simple.

CONS:

I have yet to find a genealogy or ancestry website that isn't intimidating when you first arrive.  MyTrees.com is no exception.  You need to spend some time pokng around, trying this, trying that, before you can get a real feel for the tools that are available, how to use them, and what they can do.

SUMMARY:

You can sign up for a free registration, which won't give you access to everything but is still quite an opportunity to test some of their services. Plus you can submit a thorough family tree and receive a free month or more. You can even gain free access to the MyTrees.com subscription services by helping them with their new online extraction project. They're extracting birth, marriage, death, census, and other records. So you have several opportunities to jump in and see how Kindred Connections fits into your family tree research for little or no cost.
